Peacock Eel (Macrognathus siamensis)
The Peacock Eel is a fascinating spiny eel species recognized for the eye-like spots along its body and its shy, burrowing behavior. Despite its eel-like appearance, it’s a peaceful fish that does well in community tanks with similarly sized species. These eels prefer a soft substrate to burrow into and plenty of hiding places like caves, driftwood, or plants. With proper care, they can become quite personable and active during feeding times.
