The Garden Eel is a fascinating, shy burrower that lives in colonies, with just their heads peeking from the sand. They need deep sand beds and minimal disturbance, feeding primarily on plankton drifting in the current.
Size: Up to 16 inches (40 cm)
Tank Size: Minimum 75 gallons (with 6"+ sand bed)
Care Level: Difficult – very shy, sensitive to tankmates
Diet: Carnivore – plankton, copepods, live or frozen micro foods
Aggression Level: Peaceful – easily stressed by aggressive tankmates
